Subject Verb Agreement คือ อะไร ตอบ Subject Verb Agreement คือ การเปลี่ยนรูปกริยาให้สอดคล้องกับประธาน สำหรับเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นในปัจจุบัน เป็นกิจวัตร หรือเป็นจริง ( present tense) รูปกริยาจะเปลี่ยนไปตามประธานดังนี้
รูปกริยา มีสองแบบ
| 1.1 รูปกริยา จะอยู่ในรูปที่ไม่ผัน ( V base form) เมื่อประธานคือ I, we, you, they We visit Hua Hin every summer. In this village, many villagers grow rice. You and I need to catch up with our class after participating in the ASEAN tennischampionship. 1.2 รูปกริยา ต้องเติม – s เมื่อประธานเป็นเอกพจน์บุรุษที่ 3 (he, she, it)
เติม – es ท้ายคำกริยาใด ๆ ที่ลงท้ายด้วย s, ch, x หรือ o
เติม – ies ท้ายคำกริยาใด ๆ ที่ลงท้ายด้วย y โดยการเปลี่ยน y เป็น i ก่อน
ยกเว้น ถ้าข้างหน้า y มีสระ a, e, o, u เช่น pay, pray, buy, employ ให้เติม – s ได้เลย The company employs new mechanics every year. |
หลักการผันกริยาตามประธานของประโยค
1) กริยาจะอยู่ในรูปพหูพจน์ เมื่อประธานสองตัว เชื่อมด้วย ‘and’ หรือ ‘both…and’ เช่น
Both Thai food and Japanese food are expensive.
ในขณะที่กริยาจะอยู่ในรูปเอกพจน์ ถ้าประธานสองตัว เชื่อมด้วย ‘and’ โดยมีความหมายเป็นของสิ่งเดียวหรือคน ๆ เดียว เช่น
Bread and butter becomes my quick breakfast.
Love and care means a lot to us.
The father and company owner looks happy when seeing his son work hard.
ในประโยคนี้ The father and company owner เป็นคนเดียวกัน จึงถือเป็นเอกพจน์ ให้สังเกต ว่ามี ‘The’ นำหน้า father เท่านั้น
2) ให้ผันกริยาตามรูปประธานที่มีส่วนขยายต่อไปนี้ โดยไม่ต้องคำนึงถึงส่วนขยายที่ตามมา กล่าวคือ ถ้าประธานอยู่ในรูปเอกพจน์ จะต้องใช้กริยาเอกพจน์ และถ้าประธานเป็นพหูพจน์ จะต้องใช้กริยาพหูพจน์เช่นเดียวกัน

3) ให้ผันกริยาตามคำสรรพนามรูปเอกพจน์

4) ให้ผันกริยาตามประธานที่มีคำในกลุ่ม each, either, neither, not only…but also ดังนี้

5) การผันกริยาตามประธานที่ใช้กับคำบอกจำนวน
| a lot of, plenty of, most of, all of, none of, some of, …percent of, one-third of, three-fifths of + ประธานที่เป็นนามนับไม่ได้ + กริยาเอกพจน์ หรือ + ประธานพหูพจน์ + กริยาพหูพจน์ |
A lot of people prefer traveling in the country. 15 percent of my salary goes to charity. |

6) ให้ผันกริยาเป็นเอกพจน์ เมื่อประธานอยู่ในรูป infinitive ( คำหรือกลุ่มคำที่ขึ้นต้นด้วย to) และ gerund ( คำหรือกลุ่มคำที่ขึ้นต้นด้วย V-ing) และ noun clause ( ประโยคย่อยที่ทำหน้าที่เป็นประธานหรือกรรมเช่นเดียวกับคำนาม)
To reduce cholesterol requires self-discipline.
Jogging regularly makes me healthy.
How well the kidneys work influences the body’s health.
แต่ถ้าประธานที่อยู่ในรูปดังกล่าวข้างต้นมีมากกว่าหนึ่ง โดยมี ‘and’ เชื่อม ให้ใช้กริยาพหูพจน์ เนื่องจากถือว่ามีสองสิ่งหรือมีประธานสองตัว ยกเว้นถ้าหมายถึงของสิ่งเดียวหรือคน ๆ เดียวตามหลักข้อที่ 1) เช่น
What is for lunch and whether it is delicious or not interest all of us.
( ถือเป็นประธานสองตัว)
To apply for a scholarship and get it is difficult. ( ถือเป็นสิ่งเดียว)
7) จำนวนเงิน เวลา หรือมาตราต่าง ๆ ถือเป็นเอกพจน์ ต้องใช้กริยาเอกพจน์
Six months does not cause any problem with our relationship.
Ten dollars equals 320 baht at today’s rate.
8) กริยาของ who, which, that จะเป็นเอกพจน์หรือพหูพจน์ ขึ้นอยู่กับคำนามที่มันขยาย
The person who takes charge of security on campus has been trained to stay alert all the

9) ชื่อหนังสือ ภาพยนตร์ หรือบทความ ถือเป็นเอกพจน์ ต้องใช้คู่กับกริยาเอกพจน์

10) คำที่เป็นชื่อวิชา ชื่อโรค ชื่อประเทศที่เป็นหมู่เกาะ ที่ลงท้ายด้วย s เป็นเอกพจน์ และต้องใช้คำกริยาที่เป็นเอกพจน์ เช่น AIDS, measles, physics, mathematics, the Philippines
AIDS spreads very easily.
I love mathematics which helps exercise my brain.
Among many countries in Asia, the Philippines plays a leading role in farming.
11) คำนามบางคำ เช่น species, series, deer, fish, sheep อาจเป็นเอกพจน์หรือพหูพจน์ ขึ้นอยู่กับความหมาย
Most fish breathe through gills.
This species of fish lives in cool climates.
There are many species of fish that are found in this river.
12) คำนามบางคำเป็น collective noun ถือเป็นหนึ่งหน่วย เป็นเอกพจน์ เช่น family, team, crew, class, government, committee
Our family lives in Chon Buri.
The committee meets every Monday.
The team practices three times a week.
แต่ถ้าใช้ collective noun ในความหมายแยกเป็นหลายหน่วย แต่ละหน่วยทำหน้าที่อิสระ จะถือเป็นคำนามพหูพจน์
Our family are all doctors.
The committee give comments on each issue carefully before making decisions.
The team unite for charity annually.
